Cancel ChatGPT Go: how billing and refunds work
Cancel ChatGPT Go through the service that charged you: ChatGPT Billing on the web, Apple Subscriptions or Google Play. Cancelling stops the next renewal but does not automatically refund an earlier charge. GPT Go is different: its direct top-ups are one-time payments, not recurring subscriptions.

How do you cancel ChatGPT Go?
Cancel where the subscription was purchased. The ChatGPT account, Apple account and Google account keep separate billing records, so an action in one place does not cancel a subscription managed by another.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date to avoid the next charge. OpenAI warns that a later cancellation may be too late for a renewal that has already started processing.
Does cancelling ChatGPT Go give you a refund?
No. Cancellation normally stops future renewals while paid access continues to the end of the current billing period. A separate refund request is required, and eligibility depends on the purchase, location and reason.
OpenAI says payments are generally non-refundable, while verified billing errors, unauthorized charges, documented service failures and certain regional rights may qualify. EU, UK and Turkey residents have stated cancellation rights, and Korean or Brazilian rules can differ. Apple-managed subscriptions require Apple's refund process.
Cancellation
Stops the next renewal. It does not reverse the charge that already opened the current period.
Refund
Returns money only when the merchant approves it under the applicable policy or legal right.
Chargeback
A bank dispute is different from a refund and can take longer. Start with the merchant unless the charge was unauthorized.
Do you need to cancel a GPT Go purchase?
There is no recurring GPT Go subscription to cancel. Each ChatGPT Go direct top-up is a one-month, one-time order, so the next month is purchased only if you choose it again.
A completed GPT Go top-up adds the purchased month without asking for your ChatGPT password. Failed top-ups and duplicate charges are refunded according to the order terms. If the plan does not appear, use the order status before paying again.
Order still in progress
Open the order page first. Automatic Go orders usually finish in one to three minutes.
Order failed
Failed top-ups are refunded under the order terms. Reorder only after checking the live order status.
Charged without an order
Keep the checkout email and payment receipt, then contact support so the matching order can be traced.
Want another month
Return to the live ChatGPT Go product and make a new one-month purchase when the next month starts.
Why does ChatGPT Go still show after cancellation?
Paid access normally remains active until the end of the current billing period. A successful cancellation may still show a Go badge while the existing paid time runs out.

Review the email or screenshot shown after cancellation.

The important result is that the subscription will not renew, not that access disappears immediately.

Look for a separate Apple or Google subscription under another account if the web cancellation did not remove the renewal.

If the plan is genuinely cancelled, access can continue until the stated expiration date.
How can you cancel if you cannot access the account?
For web-billed ChatGPT subscriptions, OpenAI Support can help with the account email and selected billing details. Apple and Google subscriptions must be handled through the store account used for purchase.
OpenAI may ask for the account or billing email plus two details such as the card's last four digits, expiration date, billing address or recent charge date. Never send the full card number, CVV, ChatGPT password or verification code.
